'Modern Family' airing F-bomb episode despite protests
“Here’s the thing: Since ‘f–k’ is bleeped and blurred, the only way a child is going to know what Lily is saying is if an adult tells them. And if the PTC doesn’t think the f-word is already ‘common’ in ‘the real world,’ I’d say that every person’s reality is almost entirely subjective, but most versions I’ve seen have profanity in it.”
If you have a child that’s too young to know the word “fuck” & you’re allowing them to watch Modern Family with you then you have an different problem altogether. Not only does Modern Family strike me as being quasi-inappropriate (and probably terribly boring) for a child that young, but you’re obviously uncomfortable being the one who explains such things to your child. So you’d have them learn the word from their friends rather than in a situation where you, as a parent, can explain when it is / is not appropriate to use such a word?
